Adèle Charvet

Deeply committed to the art of the stage, Adèle Charvet had her first musical and theatrical experiences in Hans Krása’s Brundibár, performing the role of Pepíček. She also sang Hänsel in Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel and Frau Reich in Otto Nicolai’s Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor.
In 2017, she made her debut at the Amsterdam Opera as the Polovtsian Maiden in Borodin’s Prince Igor, directed by Dmitri Tcherniakov and conducted by Stanislav Kochanovsky. She subsequently performed the role of the nurse Filippievna in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin at the Verbier Festival and made her Royal Opera House debut in Carmen (Mercédès). She has appeared in concert versions of Il Pirata (Adele) and performed roles including Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia and Manon at the Opéra National de Bordeaux, Manon at the Opéra Comique, and Idamante in Idomeneo with Opera Fuoco.
In concert, she performed Haydn’s Nelson Mass at the Barbican Centre with the London Symphony Orchestra under François-Xavier Roth, appeared at the Berlioz Festival in La Côte-Saint-André under Nicolas Chalvin with the Orchestre des Pays de Savoie alongside soloists such as Xavier Phillips, François-Frédéric Guy, and Tedi Papavrami, and sang Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with Les Siècles.
Passionate about the art of mélodie and Lied, which she studied with David Selig and Anne Le Bozec, she formed a duo in 2015 with pianist Florian Caroubi. That year, they won the Mélodie Prize at the International Nadia and Lili Boulanger Competition, followed in 2016 by the Grand Prix for Lied Duo at the 51st International ‘s-Hertogenbosch Competition, along with four special prizes: the Junior Jury Prize, the Friends of Lied Association Prize, the Prize for Best Interpretation of a Contemporary Piece, and the Press Prize. Following these successes, they performed recitals at deSingel in Antwerp, the Petit Palais in Paris, the Schiermonnikoog Music Festival in the Netherlands, and the Festival de l’Épau.
In 2017, Adèle Charvet participated in the Opera and Lied Academies at the Verbier Festival, taking masterclasses with Thomas Hampson, Thomas Quasthoff, Sir Thomas Allen, and Anna Tomowa-Sintow. She received the Yves Paternot Honorary Prize at Verbier, awarded to the most promising musician of the Festival Academy, and was later invited by Thomas Hampson to his Lied Academy in Heidelberg.
In 2019, she recorded her first CD, Long Time Ago, with pianist Susan Manoff, exploring American repertoire and English songs, released on Alpha Classics.
Recently, she has been heard as Flower Maiden in Parsifal for her debut at Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse, Ascanio in Berlioz’s Benvenuto Cellini with the Monteverdi Choir and Orchestra under John Eliot Gardiner on tour in La Côte-Saint-André, Berlin, the London Proms, and Versailles; in the title role of Handel’s Serse with Opera Fuoco on tour in China; Hermione in Cadmus et Hermione with Le Poème Harmonique at the Opéra Royal de Versailles; Stéphano in Roméo et Juliette at the Opéra de Bordeaux; Bach’s Mass in B minor in Leipzig; Haydn’s Stabat Mater with Le Concert de la Loge; and Mozart concerts with Ensemble Pygmalion in Aix-en-Provence and on tour in France. She has also performed recitals at the Deauville Festival, Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord, Festival de Pont de Croix, Festival La Escena Vocal in Montevideo, and with Le Poème Harmonique at the Jura Baroque Music Festival.
Upcoming projects include Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia at the Opéra de Montpellier; the title role in Carmen at the Opéra de Bordeaux; Mercédès in Carmen at the Opéra de Paris; the title role in Pelléas et Mélisande at the Opéra de Rouen; and Sélysette in Dukas’ Ariane et Barbe-Bleue at the Opéra de Lyon. In concert, she will perform with Le Poème Harmonique at Salle Gaveau, Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater with Le Concert de la Loge at Maison de la Radio and Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, and recitals with Florian Caroubi at the Théâtre Impérial de Compiègne, with Susan Manoff at the Méjan in Arles, and at Les Sables d’Olonne.
