Hanna Salzenstein
Cello
After studying at the Conservatoire de Paris in Raphael Pidoux’s class, Hanna has performed at numerous festivals, including La Folle Journée in Nantes, the International Piano Festival of La Roque d’Anthéron, and the Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad, as well as appearing as a soloist with the Orchestre du Conservatoire de Paris and the Orchestre Appassionato under Mathieu Herzog at La Seine Musicale, as part of the Philippe Jaroussky Academy. She studied Baroque cello in Christophe Coin’s class before joining Le Consort alongside Justin Taylor, Théotime Langlois de Swarte, and Sophie de Bardonnèche. The ensemble has since performed extensively across France and Europe on prestigious stages such as the Philharmonie de Paris, Arsenal de Metz, Philharmonie de Cologne, BOZAR Brussels, ElbPhilharmonie Hamburg, Opéra de Dijon, Opéra de Montpellier, and OudeMuziek. They have recorded several albums, including Specchio Veneziano, awarded a Diapason d’Or, and collaborated with singers such as Eva Zaïcik and Adèle Charvet.
For the past seven years, she has formed the duo Adama with pianist Fiona Mato, and together they co-founded the Dichter Trio with violinist Théotime Langlois de Swarte. They performed at the International Piano Festival of La Roque d’Anthéron before becoming resident artists at the Singer-Polignac Foundation. They subsequently recorded an album for the Harmonia Mundi label dedicated to Clara and Robert Schumann, in collaboration with the Musée de la Musique, and made their debut at the Philharmonie de Paris in autumn 2023.
Hanna is a laureate of the Banque Populaire Foundation and has performed alongside Renaud Capuçon during a young artists’ residency. She also took part in the world premiere of Benjamin Attahir’s work for three cellos and soprano voice, Le Jardin d’Afrique. In the 2024 season, Hanna will perform with Le Consort for their U.S. debut on several concert tours. She also recorded her first solo album with the Mirare label, focused on the emergence of the solo cello in early 18th-century Italy, which received a Diapason d’Or Découverte. After performing as a soloist with Le Concert de la Loge and Le Consort during the summer of 2024, she recorded her second solo album in September, dedicated to Italian cello concertos, released in early 2025 by Mirare and awarded a Choc Classica and a Radio Classique Trophy.
She will perform as a soloist with Le Concert de la Loge under Julien Chauvin in the summer of 2025, notably at the Festival de la Chaise-Dieu.
