Justin Taylor
Harpsichord
Justin Taylor is a musician whose playing has been described as “jubilant” (Le Monde, Oct. 2024) and whose “art of making the keyboard sing is simply astonishing” (Classica, Oct. 2024). Since winning the First Prize at the Musica Antiqua International Competition in Bruges in 2015, the young keyboardist has pursued a multifaceted career as a harpsichordist and pianist, both as a soloist and chamber musician. He has been nominated three times for the Victoires de la Musique (2017, 2024, 2025).
Following several critically and publicly acclaimed recordings, his album Chopin Intime achieved international recognition (France Inter, Le Monde, Le Figaro, “Excepcional” in Scherzo, #1 on Apple Music at launch…). This album, devoted to works by the Polish composer, was performed on an 1839 Pleyel pianino, an instrument with silvery, velvety tones on which Chopin composed his Preludes.
Justin Taylor has performed recitals in the world’s most prestigious venues, including the Auditorium de Radio France, Philharmonie de Paris, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Auditori de Barcelona, the Festival de la Roque d’Anthéron, the Library of Congress in Washington, and Oji Hall in Tokyo. He has also been invited as a soloist with numerous orchestras, including Lille, Concerto Köln, Orchestre de l’Opéra de Montpellier, Orchestre de Chambre de Genève, Mannheim, and Duisburg.
With his ensemble Le Consort, which will celebrate its 10th anniversary during the 2025–2026 season, Justin has recorded numerous albums, including three instrumental works: Opus 1, Specchio Veneziano, and Philarmonica, and performs around forty concerts per year.
Originally from Angers, Justin Taylor studied piano and harpsichord at the Conservatoire de Paris with Olivier Baumont and Blandine Rannou (harpsichord) and Roger Muraro (piano). He teaches introductory harpsichord at the Conservatoire de Paris.
