Louise Pierrard
Viola da gamba
Louise Pierrard began studying the viola da gamba at the conservatory in Grenoble, her hometown. She then studied at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels in Philippe Pierlot's class, then at the Paris Conservatory in Christophe Coin's class, where she obtained her Master's degree in 2017.
Louise Pierrard has had the opportunity to further her technique with violists such as Jordi Savall, Atsushi Sakai, Guido Balestracci, Wieland Kuijken, Marianne Muller, and Vittorio Ghielmi.
Louise Pierrard is a founding member of the chamber music ensemble Le Consort (First Prize, Audience Prize at the 2017 Val de Loire International Early Music Competition chaired by William Christie). She has recorded several albums with Le Consort for the Alpha Classics label, which have been unanimously praised by critics (CHOC Classica, DIAPASON d'Or of the Year, Choix de France Musique, Télérama, Libération, Figaro, etc.).
She also plays with the ensemble led by soprano Mathilde Etienne and tenor Emiliano Gonzalez-Toro, I Gemelli, with whom she has recorded several albums, including Soleil noir, released on the Naïve label (Diapason d'Or, Diamant d'Opéra magazine, Figaro, Sunday Times, etc.) and Le Retour d'Ulysse dans sa patrie, released on the ensemble's own label, Gemelli Factory (Diapason d'Or, Diamant d'Opéra Magazine, Choc Classica, Choix de France Musique, Télérama, etc.).
Louise Pierrard has been teaching viola da gamba and baroque style at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Rueil-Malmaison since 2019.
In 2020, she discovered the world of theater and trained at the prestigious Cours Cochet-Delavène in Paris. She also studied for a semester at Claude Mathieu's school.
Starting in 2023, she recorded covers of pop songs from the 1960s and 1970s as a singer and violist, arranging them for an ensemble that included the viola da gamba.
In 2024, she created a digital media program called “Un moment avec Louise” (A Moment with Louise), which highlights diverse individuals. Like a window opening onto a moment in life, a snapshot captured during an interview, she questions her guests about what moves them and welcomes them in all their uniqueness.
