Roxana Rastegar
Violin
Born in Nantes to Iranian parents, Roxana grew up surrounded by the whispers of the Atlantic Ocean and the verses of Persian poetry. Her musical world took a decisive turn when she discovered early music through training with Amandine Beyer. This encounter transformed her perception of the violin and led her to explore new sound possibilities.
During her Master’s in modern violin at the CNSMDP with Jean-Marc Phillips-Varjabédian, Roxana enrolled in Christophe Robert’s historical violin class. She joined the prestigious ensemble Les Arts Florissants, performing in some of the world’s most renowned venues, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Berlin Philharmonie, and the Vienna Konzerthaus. Roxana also performs with Le Poème Harmonique, Cappella Mediterranea, and Le Concert Spirituel.
After three years of experience as a quartet player with the Quatuor Mona, she naturally continued her chamber music journey in early music. She regularly performs with ensembles such as Le Consort, Jupiter, and Les Ombres. As a first violinist, she has collaborated with the ensemble Il Caravaggio and performs as a soloist with Le Concert de la Loge. In 2023, she founded her own ensemble, The Banshies, with three friends, entering a residency at the Singer-Polignac Foundation and joining the EEEMERGING program.
For Roxana, music is a vast playground. She constantly explores and is not afraid to venture into traditional and improvised music. Her artistic approach is fueled by deep curiosity and a love for sonic diversity, carried by a F. Vaillant violin (1741) generously loaned by Monsieur Mathieu through the TALENTS & VIOLON’CELLES endowment fund.
