Sophie de Bardonnèche is a passionate Baroque violinist. After completing a Master’s degree at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Amandine Beyer’s class, she collaborates with leading Baroque musicians on solo, chamber, and orchestral projects.

Her first solo album, Destinées, was released in October 2024 on the Alpha label, with a launch concert at the amphitheatre of the Philharmonie de Paris. A trailblazer in repertoire, Sophie brings to life ten French Baroque women composers, alongside her collaborators Lucile Boulanger on viola da gamba and Justin Taylor on harpsichord. The album received unanimous praise from the press (Diapason d’Or, Le Monde, Top 2024 of Figaro Magazine, Qobuzissime, Excepcional in Scherzo…).

Sophie co-founded the ensemble Le Consort with Théotime Langlois de Swarte, Justin Taylor, Louise Pierrard, and Hanna Salzenstein, exploring the repertoire of the Baroque trio sonata (two violins, harpsichord, and bowed bass). The ensemble will celebrate its tenth anniversary in 2025 and is quickly recognized as one of the most important historical-instrument ensembles of its generation. Their recordings have received widespread acclaim in the French and international press (Diapason d’Or of the Year, Gramophone, FFFF by Télérama, Choc Classica), including Venez Chère Ombre with mezzo-soprano Eva Zaïcik, Opus 1 devoted to Dandrieu and Corelli, Royal Händel with Eva Zaïcik, and Specchio Veneziano devoted to Reali and Vivaldi. Le Consort has been invited to perform at major venues and festivals such as the Auditorium de Radio France, La Roque d’Anthéron, the ElbPhilharmonie, and La Grange au Lac.

Since 2016, Sophie de Bardonnèche has been a member of Les Arts Florissants. Alongside William Christie, she has participated in numerous productions as a chamber musician or in the orchestra, including Jephtha (Handel) at the Opéra Garnier, Il Penseroso ed il Moderato (Handel) at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, and at the Philharmonie de Paris.

She has also performed and recorded with Le Poème Harmonique (Vincent Dumestre), Jupiter (Thomas Dunford, Lea Desandre), and Le Concert de la Loge (Julien Chauvin), among others.

Upcoming concert highlights include performances of the Destinées program at the festivals of Saintes, Savennières, and Un Temps pour Elles; with Le Consort at the Philharmonie de Paris, the Elbphilharmonie, BBC Proms, and Château de la Mouthe; and with Les Arts Florissants at the Philharmonie de Paris and Berlin.
